The main organization of video-game collectors is the Video Arcade Preservation Society, which, predictably, has an incredible on-line presence—including a search engine that can take the name of any game and cough up its maker, year of manufacture, and an acerbic one-line description of its charms (my favorite description is of Splatter House: "Death-themed.") It also archives essential FAQs on how to buy classic games at auctions and from operators, and lists of games owned by members.
